Am I eligible for the CFA exam as a student?
Yes. You can register for the CFA exam as a final-year student or if you already have a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) recognized in Pakistan. CFA Institute accepts students who meet one of the following eligibility conditions.

You are eligible to register for the CFA exam if at least one of these applies:
🎓 Option 1: Final-Year University Student
- You must currently be in the final year of your bachelor’s degree.
- Your degree should be from a university recognized by HEC (Higher Education Commission of Pakistan) or a foreign accredited institution.
🎓 Option 2: Completed Bachelor’s Degree
- You already have a bachelor’s degree (BBA, BS, B.Com, BSc, BA, ACCA-affiliated degree, etc.).
💼 Option 3: Work Experience Pathway
- 3,000 hours of work experience + higher education combined over a minimum of 36 months.
- Work experience does not have to be in finance.
- Paid internships count toward the hours.

❓ Can ACCA students register?
Yes, if you are in the final year of an ACCA-affiliated bachelor’s program. If you only have ACCA papers without a degree, you must qualify via the work-experience pathway.
❓ Is HEC recognition important?
Yes. CFA Institute requires your degree to be from a recognized or accredited institution. In Pakistan, this generally means HEC-recognized universities.
❓ Can I register before entering final year?
No. You must officially be in the final year at the time of registration.
🪪 ID Requirement Reminder (For Pakistan)
To register and sit for the CFA exam, you must use the same valid passport throughout the process.
Local IDs such as CNIC, NADRA Smart Card, Student ID, or driver’s license are not accepted.

⚠️ Eligibility Does Not Grant the CFA Charter
Registering for the exam does NOT mean you immediately qualify for the CFA charter. The charter requires:
- Full-time professional work experience (4,000 hours minimum)
- Experience can be gained before, during, or after exams
